My gals went back to school on August 17th but I know most other gals started more recently. September 22nd marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Time just seems to fly by. Already the holidays are fast approaching. I will be 10 times more busy than I am now, which, believe me, seems near impossible! LOL But what fun is life, if not busy? =]
GUPS will be starting up at Girls United again pretty soon. Won't you come over and follow? If you are not familiar with it, it's a Polyvore Set creation contest. Each week the contestants are given specific criteria they must use in creating their set, and each week the contestant with the lowest score is eliminated :( The last designer standing....is the WINNER! It's always a lot of fun and since last season I was a judge, I decided to try my hand at contestant this time around. It's gonna be tough as there are some really incredible set designers out there! GUPS WINNER!
GUPS wrapped up this week. Now, I know, I know, I missed a couple of updates, the GOOD news is that, if you follow BB's Blog (which you should), then you are all caught up, if not, please head over there and check it out!
I WILL feature the winner though...who was it? Marla? The wonderful set designer who steadily made her way to the top with her consistent improvement and her beautiful and soft sets . Or was it Moose? The fabulous art set designer who wowed us throughout the competition with her excellent attention to detail and her awesome ability to layer. I have to say that as a judge, it was soooo tough to judge the finale, cuz the gals just worked so hard and showed why they were there! So get on with it Speedy, I get it xD....The winner.....MOOSE! GUPS Week 5 Results
I know I know, I'm soooo late...AGAIN....no need to point it out! At least I'm only 1 week behind this time! xD Week 6 results will prolly be out tomorrow, so I'll just post Week 5 Results for now. As always please check out all the in-depth critiques on BB's Blog.
Week 5 had the contestants picking one item from each column in this set:
For GUPS by Beyond.These.Walls featuring Christian Louboutin boots
They were allowed to choose whichever item they liked, but they had to grab at least one from each column. The winner for week 5 was DUCKIE!! Her awesome Kodak set had us posing for the camera. She really picked the right items to fit together! Check it out!

And of course sadly there had to be an elimination. At this stage in the competition, it is incredibly difficult to say goodbye to anyone. All of them are very talented. But sadly, this week it was Britta. My fave set of hers for this competition:

I just found it perfect and I loved it instantly!! I would also like to point out another of Britta's sets that I just adored!
It is so creative and I really love the idea of the painter/artist! Bravo!

Peek-A-Boo
lol hello y'all...gosh it's been awhile...a really, REALLY crazy week. School is winding down for my gals and there always seems to be TONS to do! Well I did it...I bought the plane ticket for my 14 year old to visit her best friend in Tennessee. That is like 1600 miles y'all. She stayed with her Grandma down the street for a couple days one time and that is it!
But she's going and she's going to be gone for 28 days...I am excited for her to have the opportunity but I am madly nervous! xD

First up...Week 3 Results!
Mini Challenge winner: [Weakness.In.Her.Eyes] (Sparkle) - Very cool "tiny" set! Just beautiful!
Main Challenge - Change it UP - Challenged the gals to take an layout/style away from their "norm". But WOW....you couldn't tell. Britta's winning set, was neat, beautiful and just perfectly put together. The outfit was so adorable! Check it out!
Sadly there had to be an elimination and the wonderfully talented and always nice Lemon (Peace♥Lemon ) scored the lowest and was eliminated. Her sets are very gorgeous and you should definitely check out her work! We'll miss you Lemon! My fave set of the competition from her:

So this week's mini challenge had the gals creating a fashion set using ONLY three primary colors and WOW once again...they didn't disappoint! The week's mini challenge winner was Marla (♥Marla.(:)
^^isn't that just fantastic? BRAVO!
Week 4's MAIN Challenge had our lovely ladies creating an ART Collage! Beautiful! This week's winner was Bri Bri Bri.
Bri's set was just so lovely and adorable. She really grasped the idea of a collage becoming art! Very well put together! KUDOS!
.....and now.....dum de dum dummmm....the Elimination...somebody had to go and sadly, this week it was swimmer550 . We will miss her!!! My fave set from her was her Love set...it just really said "love" to me!♥

Ok I must do a feature on this brilliant artist....if you haven't heard of her yet...you will! On Girlsense she is Prinzess27! Please please please do yourself a favor and CHECK HER OUT! Her artistic ability is just amazing!

So my younger daughter's homework was to write some of her own Limericks which are a kind of humorous verse of five lines, in which the first, second, and fifth lines (8 syllables each) rhyme with each other, and the third and fourth lines (5 syllables each), which are shorter, rhyme with each other. I decided to look some up cuz it was soooo fun helping her write them. Here are a couple cute ones!
There was a young lady from Cork,
Whose pop made a fortune in pork,
He bought for his daughter,
A tutor who taught her,
To balance green peas on her fork!

My Girlsense Contest - Wrapping Up
So a few weeks ago...or maybe it was closer to a month, I decided to hold a 50,000 gcent contest in an effort to encourage people to join Girls United. It worked! From the time I announced the contest, there were 11 new sign ups. Now that may not seem like a lot, but it is! cutepony8 on Girlsense created Girls United (originally a GirlSense forum, and now soooo much more!) 9 months ago and today we have 289 registered users, 17,277 messages in 699 subjects! Whoa! xD It's a great place to be and a perfect place to make new friends! Join us today! =]
Back to the contest...
To recap: I created 20 "questions" that challenged the gals to find, scavenge and answer all sorts of forum and girlsense related items. The first 10 to answers those 20 questions correctly moved on to the Design portion of the contest. Design an outfit (outfit, purse and shoes) in the color scheme of black and ANY OTHER color. And YOWSER!! The talent and creativity that emerged, blew my mind. These gals put a lot of effort into their designs and they should all commend themselves for pushing the limits and taking chances. I judged based on the following criteria:
ORIGINALITY/CREATIVENESS 60 Points
DIFFICULTY 25 Points
COMPLETION/MET REQUIREMENTS 15 Points
Now...drum roll please.....The Designs (in no particular order):
OMGSML1 (Shannon) - Definitely a style I dig!! The arm and leg tattoo was mad creative! =]
handbaghailey (Katy) - Beautiful Spring inspired ensemble! Sweet and beautiful, this black, red and gold piece was just wonderful and the butterfly was the perfect touch!
Prinzess27 (Prinzess) - Rocker chicks unite! Going above and beyond. The "add-ons" are just incredible! I can hear the music already! xD
swimmer550 (Swim) - A beautiful outfit...could be either day or night! The cut on the bottom is lovely, gives it a 'webbed" kinda feel! Lovely one sided glove gives a hint of sophisticated rebellion!
afmoose95 (Moose) - If there is a such thing as lovely gothic, this is it! The color is just divine and the embellishments are yummy! The tights are a brilliant touch as it would not have been the same without!
KEdwards23 (Aqua) - Glittery gorgeous-ness. The "sheer" sleeves are just beautiful! With the lovely fireworks design and matching purse, this outfit is sure to be the toast of the town! ;)
Englishrose92 (Ange) - Lovely socialite look. A brilliant mix of color of black, white and gold with the platinum blonde hair giving a color kick! Lovely!
xxMarla (Marla) - A unique entry...leaving behind the "dress-up" and going for casual...I love it!! I LOVE the football purse and the jersey is amazing!
So there you have it. Nine incredible designs that obviously these gals put a lot of effort into. I am speechless. Unfortunately, CrazyGirlNumbuh2 did not get her design in on time and was disqualified. It's ok Chloe girl, I hope everything is ok with you :D. So who wins? As I mentioned earlier, I scored based on those three categories. The highest possible score is 100 Points. So here we go....

Well underway. We have our top ten and are awaiting Thursday's deadline for all the design entries. Then I have the painful task of judging the awesome entries. 1st Place gets 50,000 gcents, 2nd Place gets 20,000 gcents and 3rd Place will have a choice of 5,000 gcents or a GS custom by me, their choice! :D I'll post the entries and eventually the winner here.
